i scoured netflix last night while in bed, looking for a new show to watch after finishing the recruit. i ended up going onto amazon prime, and came across a series called todd and the book of pure evil. i should've known it was a canadian series, even though it was set in a high school that vaguely seemed american, yet i didn't recognize a single actor. with so many streaming options, you'd think it'd be easy to find something good to watch. but it seems the more choices there are, the less likely of finding something good. or maybe i've grown very picky in my old age.

i woke up this morning and left for the cafe via bicycle for my wednesday shift. business today was super slow. must be a combination of people leaving early for the holidays and the fact that all the college kids have gone home for winter break. so my sister had plenty of time to work on her catered meals, yet like always, she left everything until the last minute, and we had to all combine our efforts to help her finish by deadline, when customers were scheduled to arrive and pick up their orders. she made hainan chicken and some kind of scallion pancake beef wrap.

we did get one large online order today, somebody ordered all 4 varieties of bento. i'd never seen that before, but it's smart if they're trying to figure out which of the bentos is best. i made more tea eggs. my mother shattered a container of sliced yellow pickled daikon radishes, which was partly my fault because i left the container on top of another container she was trying to get out of the fridge. i tried to tidy up the office, so we can make more room and use it as a supply closet. i rearranged the magnetic knife holders, the new one that i bought is much better than the old one: the old one (LERJU brand) has round magnetic arranged in rows, while the new one (rymmzone) is a solid block of magnet. if you need a magnetic fridge knife holder, i recommend the rymmzone ($21).

my mother told me my 2nd uncle self-tested yesterday after feeling like he had a sore throat, and the test showed two lines, though the second line was very faint. my mother called my 2nd aunt and told her to retest my uncle. second time around the two lines appeared immediately, so no doubt he contracted covid. that's strange, because i've bumped into him a few times at market basket, and he's always wearing his mask and gloves. although to be honest, he often wears his mask as a chin mask. still, if anyone's contracting covid, it's me, because i've been running around town all year without a mask. i personally think i caught it at some point but my body managed to fend off the coronavirus before it could replicate.

i left the cafe a bit after 6pm. big news today was ukrainian president zelensky visiting washington, speaking with biden, and then later addressing congress. i watched his congress address. will the US continue to offer his country aide when the republicans take back control of the house next year? even senate minority leader mitch mcconnell has expressed his unwavering support for ukraine.

for dinner i had some leftover hainan chicken along with some beef rollups.
