i went out just once today, in the morning to bring the bicycle down to the basement before it began to snow and rain. i continued my exploration of norwegian foods. yesterday i tried the påske marsipan. for some reason i've always associated marzipan as a jewish dessert, not sure why, maybe my first exposure to it was through a jewish friend. i didn't even know what marzipan was, until i looked it up and discovered it was actually made from almonds and sugar. for lunch i made another sandwich with smoked salmon, this time with jarlsberg cheese, some prosciutto, and arugula. i was afraid the salty prosciutto would overpower the other flavors but it was a good blend.

snow began to fall in the afternoon. it turned heavy right when my father was scheduled to take my 2nd aunt to the airport. she's going on vacation the moment my parents come back, to another 10-days european cruise with my california aunt and bunch of her friends. from the cafe webcam i noticed my mother was gone as well, they probably decided to close early so they can both take my aunt. the snow was more of a nuisance, since the ground was too warm for anything to stick. it did however cover some neighboring solar panels, but the snow will transition to rain overnight and wash everything away.

soon i will have to thin out my seedlings, which i never look forward to doing. especially the tomatoes, they grow fast, and they're crowding each other out. i ran two usb fans in the closet today, not sure if they're designed to run 12+ hours a day for the next 6-8 weeks. last year i used a little DIY fan my father made from a computer fan, i think that was better (i've since returned it). my father got me a 10K clip-on LED aquarium light, not realizing i already have one. maybe i could use it as a grow light, but 10K is not the optimal spectrum for plant growth.

i wasn't that hungry for dinner. in the late afternoon i helped myself to more prosciutto, brown goat cheese, and norwegian crackers. i ended up heating a can of soup for dinner around 9pm, new campbell thai style chicken rice soup. maybe i overcooked it, but the rice was all soggy and it wasn't that great. i'll stick to the more traditional campbell chicken noodle soup and their gumbo.
