waking up early saturday morning (8am) was a little more bearable knowing that due to the end of daylight savings time i'd be able to get an extra hour of sleep tonight. i had to get into boston by 9am to watch the first annual boston halloween 5k. the race starts at copley square and then meanders throughout boston common to finally finish there as well. originally i was going to catch the race from copley square, but figured there'd be better photo opps from boston common, where most of the race actually takes place.
ana didn't come home last night nor did she tell me about it; not that it matters too much, but it'd be nice to have a courtesy tell, just so i know i'll have the whole place to myself. i kind of figured she'd be out, being halloween weekend and all, and she probably wouldn't be back home tonight either.
i used the bathoom, took a shower, got dressed, and forced myself to eat a banana so i wouldn't go out on an empty stomach. even then, i didn't leave the house until a little bit after 8:30am, going into the basement to retrieve my fuji bike and pump some air into the rear tire.
the best way to shoot these running events is from the side. shooting it from the front and above captures a lot more people, but everything's compressed. side shooting, i can track a subject for much longer, and people look better (leaner) when they're running compared to being squished.
