even though i'd hoped the celtics would win tonight, i was prepared for a game 7. celtics had the lead going into the second half but the start of the 3rd quarter looked like a total boston collapse, thanks in no small part to the officiating, which seemed suspiciously in favor of detroit (pierce's potential 4-point play called an offensive foul? you be the judge). the pistons ended up scoring 31 to boston's 20, and was up by 10 points going into the final quarter. but something happened in the 4th: the celtics just outplayed the pistons, regardless of how the referees were calling the game. once boston regained the lead, the minutes leading up to the end of the game seemed like hours. and when the celtics finally won the eastern conference championship, i immediately felt bad for the pistons. so now the stage is set for a celtics lakers matchup in the finals, like the good old days. i sort of wish we weren't going up against los angeles - not that i think we'll lose - but because i want us to win so badly due to the fact that i hate the lakers. i think kobe bryant is a pretentious jerk who is entirely undeserving off all that accolade. nothing i'd like to see more than the lakers getting beat down.

earlier during the day, my father came over to check out my plumbing issue. i've been getting very little hot water pressure in the shower ever since i got the hot water heater replaced before the memorial day weekend. when i tried my hands at investigating the problem, i found out that even when the hot water valve in the basement is turned off, hot water still comes out in the tub/shower faucet. he said the rubber plug inside the valve would need to be replaced, and he'd do it within the next few days.

i went to the garden, brought along the remainder of my assortment of parsley and cilantro plants. they're basically destined for the compost bin but if anything of them be revived i'll replant them in the garden. i also added 4 plastic cups containing cucumber seeds and 2 with moonflowers. since the chain-link fence bordering my garden will be replaced this summer, i don't have a trellis for climbing plants anymore, so i'll have to build my own out of wooden stakes and chicken wires.

in the late afternoon i went over to my parents' place for dinner. we were supposed to have lamb chops but some key ingredients missing, we had noodles instead. i discovered that hailey goes crazy when somebody lies down; she'll jump on top of them, "attacking" their face.
