i've heard about it but never actually seen it before: rapid rise yeast. the way i think of it, it's like normal yeast but on steroids. i found some today at market basket (about $5), on an unusually uncrowded shopping day. i went with my mother who earlier went to rite aid looking for some stuff on sale from the circular but discovered a lot of things weren't on the shelves. i cooked up some homemade chinese dumplings for lunch when i got back, while at the same time fixing a bug for client S. in the evening julie came over and i made some blue cheese burgers with the foreman grille. even now, hours later, the aroma of cooked burgers still permeates the air.

although the bottom shelf nasturtiums seem to be doing better (at least they're taller and bigger), the other plants seem to be growing better on the top shelf. some cypress vines and cilantro have already produced their true leaves, and the basil are bigger on the top shelf as well. unfortunately the fungus gnats are still there. while vacuuming the house, i sucked up a few, but i don't think it'll solve anything.
