a lazy day, never really left the house, stayed in my bedroom for most of the day. it looked like it'd rain so i didn't even bother watering the garden (it didn't rain though). i also thought about going to home depot to get some flower seeds but scratched that idea. so besides watching the law & order: criminal intent marathon on the USA network, i also watched epic movie, a junk of a film but entertaining in a lowest common denominator sort of way. i also found out there was a band of brothers marathon on the history channel, so caught some episodes of that as well (i'm so excited spielberg and company will be making a pacific theatre series). the only mildly constructive thing i did today was finally separately my adult guppies so i have 2 full-sized tanks, one containing males, the other females. though i still can't be exactly sure of their gender, i finally did a count today, i think i have 11 male guppies, and 9 female guppies. besides that, i still have a tank of undetermined guppy fries which will have to be separated as well soon. i really like the look of the all-glass aquarium cover, how seen from above it just looks like i have a solid transparent block of water with fish living inside. however i did some calculations and discovered it costs more to buy a glass cover and a separate light fixture ($9 + $25) than it is to buy the combination aquarium hood ($30, which is the ficture with a seperate plastic cover). the single most expensive piece of fish keeping equipment isn't the fish tank ($10 for a 10 gallon), nor the water filter (no more than $20), but it's actually the fluorescent light fixture.

tonight trot nixon returned to fenway park as a cleveland indian. it was sort of bittersweet, people gaving him a standing ovation the first time he came out in his familiar right field position, and then another standing ovation when he came to bat. i was never a big nixon fan - i knew he was a good player and was a great team mate, the first one out of the dugout whenever a fight broke out. from his interviews i realized he was a jesus freak and thanked god often for the success he had on the field. i am a big nomar and pedro fan, and i'm hoping one day those guys will come back to the team. johnny damon, however, is dead to me.
