this morning's breakfast was composed entirely of food that could potentially make me sick. first, some 2 week old expired yogurt that i had to drain before eating (there was a layer of suspicious liquid on the surface). next, i made a smoothie with a banana so old it was black. that was followed by a piece of leftover turkey that'd been sitting in a box on the kitchen counter since friday (so that's where that mysterious foul odor was coming from!). i then waited for my body to react. surprisingly, no ill side effects from dabbling in some bad eats.

this week is a work week so not too much fun, with a small deadline by week's end. i sat in front of the computer pretty much the whole day, watching as it grew progressively darker. i went out briefly to make some copies of the receipt i got for the gutter clean-up (to give to my upstairs neighbors) and to buy some toilet paper from the nearby dollar store. my sister came by briefly to pick up some pork she'd left here from thursday, and brought along some leftover spaghetti which i later had for dinner.

i'm concerned about the tetras: they don't seem aggressive enough when it comes to feeding time and end up just getting the crumbs left over by the danios. i'm thinking about getting some more tetras so they can form a bigger school and not be afraid all the time of the slightly larger danios. in each camp there's one fish that's bigger than the rest. the largest tetra seems to coexist peacefully with its ilk, a gentle giant, but the largest danio likes to chase the other danios around. so far i haven't noticed any sort of interspecies agression, the tetras and the danios just seem to ignore each other.
