what i thought would take only 2 hours became 4 hours then finally 6 hours. at 4pm i was finally done with coding, setting cuepoints for several dozen audio files to synchronize with some on-screen text captioning. burned onto a cd, i rode down to cambridgeport to deliver the latest version to client P. when i returned home i watched an episode of hustle (the last one of season 3) followed by an episode of sopranos (vito escapes to new hampshire).

in the evening i went to belmont. it was 40 something degrees, a wee cold for biking, so i layered: thermal underwear and 4 layers of jackets. i was well insulated but where i was cold were the in-betweens, like my ankles and my wrists. once i got to my parents' place, my mother told me about a large spider she trapped in the kitchen sink. i've never seen it before, sort of a cross between a jumping spider and a wolf spider. my initial instinct was to flush it down the drain but i caught it in an inverted glass and released it outside.

once my sister came back from nanny duty, we went out for dinner at the watertown friendly's. by the time we got there it was almost 8pm so it wasn't crowded although still busy. the only thing i had to eat all day was a small yogurt so i was beyond hungry. i ordered a barbecue steak sandwich and a cup of clam chowder. by meal's end i was so full i could hardly breathe. later we went to target where my mother picked up a sodoku book (her new hobby).

my night ride back home to cambridge was surprisingly pleasant despite the cold. the first order of business was to take a bath. that's when i noticed another spider in the tub, a large house spider (1"). my initial instinct once again was to just flush it down the drain, but like the sink spider, i trapped this one in a glass and set it free in the backyard. afterwards i turned on the tv and was surprised to see the red sox game against the bluejays was still going on in extra innings. unfortunately the red sox would soon lose.
