okay, remember that nasty boil i was telling you about last week? how it sort of ruptured and got really infected and i was afraid to go see the doctor because i don't have the best health insurance? well... ha ha! just kidding! that's just a really disgusting mushroom photo. i've neglected them for a few days, figuring nothing else would grow, but guess what? more are sprouting out! from new places and old ones as well. i moved the bag into the tub and gave the whole thing a nice misting of rain water. i'll be curious to see how these new batches of mushrooms will grow, out of the plastic case, back to the humidity tent.

in the afternoon i went with my father to market basket to get some groceries. that place is always crowded, not a market to shop if you're claustrophobic. i was admiring all the pretty fruits and vegetables in the produce section, and thought to myself, "man, i wish i had a camera so i could take some photos!" it wasn't until many minutes later that i realized i ALWAYS carry a camera with me and pulled it out of my pocket. the produce section is probably the prettiest section of any supermarket, if i was to design one, i'd put it right up front, so people on the outside can see all the displays.

rest of the day i spent fixing bugs. i've got it down to 5 bugs now, and i guard my list obsessively; when i get a new bug report i jump on it and try to fix it as quickly as possible (or re-assign it to somebody else), almost like i can't bear to see that list get any larger. once the work day was over, i cracked open my computer and installed the new ATI radeon 7500 card that came in the mail today (i accidently sent it to the cafe). this "new" card replaces my 1999 video card, but the 7500 is from 2001, so it's not that new either. however, it does have an ADC port (if i should ever want to pick up an used apple LCD cinema display), and can display a higher resolution; unfortunately all the ones above 1600x1200 don't have a 4:3 aspect ratio so the image gets cropped on my 19" sony trinitron.

i had ramen for dinner. there was a loud knock on my door and when i went to go see who it was, there was a girl standing outside with a bottle of wine and a container of dip. "jen?" she said. "no, actually..." i was hoping she'd figure out her mistake, which she eventually did (got the wrong house, my neighbors and i have similar looking condos).
