i left my house at 8am this morning for a meeting with BP down in norwood. i was finished by 11am, and stopped by renata's place on my way home. while she apologized for her messy apartment (picking things up off the floor the whole time), i was playing around with her router configuration. i tried a setting that seemed to sustain her wireless connection even after several restarts (so hopefully now she can work in her closet). renata made some green tea and i drank the hot beverage in what little time we had before she had to leave for work. i watched with rapt fascination as she fished around in a tiny box for the proper earrings to wear with her outfit. i left and made my way back to cambridge (the sky was overcasted but it never rained).

my exchange student was due to arrive at 3pm and i was sort of anxious. for the next 2 months i will be having a roommate again, something i wasn't looking foward to, too used to the single life. so i was enjoying my final hours of single living, cleaning up the house a little bit as well. my father picked him up from the airport and brought him to my place, where he had dinner with my family as well as suhan. after my parents left i chatted with him a little bit; he's never left taiwan before and in fact this was his first time riding in an airplane. he just recently graduated from college with a degree in materials, and will serve his mandatory army duty when he returns to taiwan. i found it kind of funny that before he was even born i had already immigrated to the US from taipei (i've lived in the boston area for over 25 years now). it'll be nice to re-experience everything again as i show him around since everything is new to him. tomorrow i'm teaching him how to ride the T and where to take his english class starting next week.
