maybe today was colder than yesterday. i could feel the temperature in my jaw and the strong winds pierced right through my pants even though i was wearing long underwear. any moisture inside of my nose immediately turned to ice crystal and i got that sensation you have when you involuntarily snort water, feels like drowning. plumes of condensation shot out of my mouth like a fire breathing commuter. my glasses immediately fogged up when i got to the train station. i put them on my head so i could blow my nose.

EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WIND CHILLS WILL DRIVE INTO THE REGION LATE THIS AFTERNOON OR EVENING AND CONTINUE INTO LATE FRIDAY MORNING. FOR MANY LOCATIONS...THIS WILL BE RECORD SHATTERING CHILL...POSSIBLY RIVALING THE COLDEST JANUARY TEMPERATURES ON RECORD IN THE WORCESTER AND BOSTON AREA.

lunch was an encore performance of yesterday's meal because i loved it so much, went back to chinatown cafe to get the salt & pepper ribs again while getting some beef dish for alex. i ate pretty fast, and even though i was hungry, i only managed to eat half of the ribs, saving the rest for lunch tomorrow, another sequel.

CHILL VALUES ARE EXPECTED TO LINGER IN THE 25 TO 45 BELOW ZERO RANGE FOR SEVERAL HOURS...THE WORST BETWEEN 3 AM AND 9 AM FRIDAY. THESE VALUES CAN PRODUCE FROSTBITE IN JUST 10 OR 15 MINUTES. IF YOU DONT HAVE TO TRAVEL OR BE OUTSIDE LATE TONIGHT OR EARLY TOMORROW...THEN STAY INDOORS. FOR A FEW AREAS IN EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS THIS MAY BE THE MOST SEVERE WIND DRIVEN COLD IN 40 YEARS...DATING BACK TO JANUARY 15 1957.

work was all about juggling today. i am on 3 projects, with 3 more waiting on the assembly line. i guess being busy means a certain level of job security, and it's all coding work that i know i can do. the day seems to go by pretty fast. it's thursday already, with friday just around the corner. i found out that we actually get monday off (martin luther king day), but holidays are treated like a voluntary vacation day, if you don't take it now, you can take it at a later date. i was planning on coming in anyway, and with the weather so cold, i could probably use this day more during a gorgeous summer day than when its freezing outside.

IF YOU MUST GO OUT TONIGHT AND FRIDAY MORNING...DRESS WARMLY AND IF TRAVELING IN YOUR CAR... CARRY EXTRA WARM CLOTHING AND BLANKETS...JUST IN CASE. ALSO YOUR CELL PHONES SHOULD BE FRESHLY AND FULLY CHARGED TO OPERATE PROPERLY IN THIS UNUSUALLY FRIGID OUTBREAK. EVEN FOR NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND THIS AIRMASS IS 25 TO 30 DEGREES COLDER THAN NORMAL!

the temperature had steadily dropped during the day. by nightfall, when i left the office to go home, the streets outside were bleached in white, a layer of fine frost forming on the roads. you don't see that everyday. at south station, all the passengers were huddled inside, nobody braving the frigid temperature waiting outside. i cashed in my paycheck at porter square and went to ace hardware store to buy a thermometer with a suction cup attachment. i wanted to find out for myself how cold it'd get tonight. the one that i got goes as low as -40 degrees fahrenheit (and as high as 120 degrees), one of those serious new england thermometers.

THESE WINDS CHILL VALUES WILL MAKE IT DANGEROUS TO BE OUTSIDE FOR EXTENDED PERIODS. EXPOSED SKIN MAY FREEZE IN AS LITTLE AS 10 MINUTES. IF YOU MUST GO OUTDOORS...COVER ANY EXPOSED SKIN. WEAR A HAT...MITTENS OR GLOVES...AND SEVERAL LAYERS OF LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING.

after several tries, i finally got the thermometer to attach to the window of my back door. it was too cold for the suction to stick, and when i tried to wash the window, it froze instantly. analog thermometers might be old school in these modern days of digital thermometers and internet weather reports, but it'll last forever and never runs out of batteries. for dinner, more leftover lasagna. i've got enough to feed me for one more night tomorrow.

i called at&t wireless about replacing my nokia 8260. apparently i forgot i was still under contract with them, so i won't be free until may 2nd. the phone that i'm using now is a digital phone (that's good, right?), but all the new phones nowadays are GSM, which is what the sony ericsson T616 is. if i want to upgrade my phone, it's going to cost me $150 for another one year contract. let me sleep on that one.

michael moore is voting for wesley clark! i wonder who al franken is voting for?
