came back home from william jackson avenue at about 10pm. the first time i got to use my night-time riding goggles (they fogged up when i put them on but then cleared up as soon as i was riding). night riding seems to be the same as day riding -- just a little bit darker (too obvious?). it wasn't too bad because tonight was a very warm and humid night, so i didn't notice the daytime/nighttime temperature drops normally associated with noctural motorcycling. i was actually a little bit concerned going through residential streets, afraid that maybe the sound of the motorcycle might wake up some early sleeping neighbors. bikes can be noisy beasts!

game day. didn't win a single game and it was as hot as hell on william jackson avenue. we did have some really nice chinese food though (spicy orange chicken combo -- the leftover which i couldn't bring home with me because i took the motorcycle) and i got a pretty cool fortune from my cookie, "You are the center of every group's attention." we played lord of the rings (not one of my favorites but the boys seem to like it), some card game elias bought (i forgot the name, it's a trading game), axis and allies (we got through 3 rounds, i played the nazi on the verge of an african conquest and a battle royale with the russians), modern art, and settlers with the expansion pack. it was almost 9 straight hours of gaming. in the background the television was on, starting with the usa vs. jamaica soccer game, then can't hardly wait, followed by gladiator and the red sox game (they lost, despair). when the last game was over, the television was tuned to the 80's music channel (courtesy of DTV) and madonna's "poppa don't preach" was playing on the surround-sound. a perfect ending to an imperfect gaming day (at least for me, batting that zero average).
