i went with my parents to the assembly square mall to help my mother buy some yarn (patons lace). afterwards we stopped briefly at home depot to buy a replacement splitter. coming back, we stopped at the korean supermarket in union square.

don't judge: i bought the no rules knitting starter kit because it was on sale ($8). it's geared towards teenagers (the tutorial takes place in the fictional teen knit cafe - supposedly where kids go to get their drink and yarn on). although manufactured in 2008, the overall decor has a 1990's vibe (mentions of contrivances like texting hint at a more modern time). there are some sample videos online, and i actually watched them last autumn to self-teach myself knitting. the instructions are pretty helpful, and the young female instructor has a friendly approach, keeping it casual and funny. i just wanted the dvd, but it also came with 3 balls of yarn and a pair of size 8 knitting needles.

i made some double chocolate chip cookies. this particular mix didn't require a whole stick of butter like the last cookies i made. for dinner i made another salmon bagel sandwich. drew and i watched dave, one of my favorite political movies.
