just as i feared, the last of my red cherry barbed finally passed away this morning. i saw it floating lifeless at the bottom of the tank. i scooped it out of the water and gave it a proper burial in my backyard. it was just a few months shy of 9 years old. it was one of the first fishes i ever bought when i began my aquarium hobby. it came with 4 other cherry barbs but they all died over the years. this one never had a name but i occasionally incorrectly call it snouty, even though snouty was a different cherry barb (so named because of a deformed snout).

drew was gone by the time i woke up this morning. i was busy coding, but was hoping he'd come back in the early afternoon (like he did last week) so i could take a break from work and take him to the fresh pond whole foods. he didn't return home until later in the evening, by which point i'd pretty much made so much progress on my programming for client R that i sent them a review version. i can pretty much stop working the rest of the week until i receive more content from them.

since i finished my spaghetti yesterday, i didn't have anything to eat for dinner. i went out just once to get some polar seltzer that were on sale at star market (4 cases/$10, i bought 3 cases because that was all i could carry). in the evening i made some quick spicy noodles using a sauce packet, some expired scallions, and some chinese pickled radishes. tomorrow i'm going to chinatown to pick up a few supplies.
