i'm in work mode now, making up for lost time. i've been brainstorming a way to do a sliding effect using director imaging lingo but i haven't figured it out yet (something to do with manipulating the alpha mask). otherwise an uneventful day. went to market basket to pick up some of my favorite chicken sausages then visited ac moore to get a big bundle of off-white cotton yarn for my godmother. i'm happy to report that the planter in front of the house no longer smells. oatmeal for lunch, pulled pork sandwiches for dinner.

LJ came home around 5:30 then promptly left, saying something about going somewhere and not coming back until the evening. i watched her go down the street in the direction of star market. later when she came back she brought home half a watermelon. "american melons are so sweet!" she said. apparently she was at some kind of dinner party. actually, at my great uncle's place, where my former roommate LX moved to back in june, along with another colleague. cutting up a slice of watermelon, i detected a trace of lobster. growing up as a kid i hated seafood, so my nose is highly sensitive to the stuff. "did you guys eat lobster?" i asked. LJ said yes, she bought 3 for around $22. she said they were pretty good, like the expensive ones she had in shanghai that one time.
