by noontime i finally got the code finished and sent a version to the client. i never heard back from them so i'm going to assume (until i know otherwise) that no news is good news. in the meantime i was enjoying another post delivery break. with nothing to eat in the house, i made a much needed grocery run. the sky was grey but the rain kept away for most of the day. i got a rotisserie chicken, devouring half and saving the rest to make chicken broth for dinner later in the evening.

it finally hit me today, the depression that comes with the end of daylight saving time. the sudden onset of darkness made for a quick day.

i spent the late afternoon fixing the leak in the bathtub faucet. part of the deal of being a homeowner is picking up little skills you'd normally never need to have. things like proper interior painting techniques, staining the deck, caulking the bathtub, and making some minor plumbing repairs. it actually took me two tries before i fixed it (with repeated trips down into the basement to turn off/on the water), replacing the rubber seat washer on the cartridge for the cold water knob. fortunately the first time i fixed a leak a few years ago my father told me to buy some extra washers so i had them already.

in the evening i made some chicken noodle soup. i went from spending a few weeks where i ate very little to suddenly having 2 bigs meal in a day. i felt completely stuffed afterwards.
