MAY

03

2009

a quick loop around harvard square in the early afternoon revealed nothing particularly noteworthy about this year's may fair, just a lot of vendors selling their stuff and a whole lot more people buying. the truth is the may fair is just a celebration of consumerism.

i ran into ed on my way home. we chatted briefly before my hacking cough started acting up and i had to run home to get a drink of water. i packed up my gear and left for belmont.

while browsing the hundreds of fiber optic channels at my parents' place, i came across a new channel i've never seen before, sino tv (channel 281), featuring chinese mandarin language shows. i watched a taiwanese travelogue about 3 sets of young people visiting various places around the island, and everywhere they went, they'd always eat something there. it wasn't a great show and some of the food didn't look very appetizing (even though they always smiled and said how good it was) but it was just fun watching a show with spoken taiwanese chinese. later after some research i discovered that verizon only just recently (as of tuesday) added this new channel to their lineup (with 2 more chinese language channels at some future date).
