the longer you live, the more paperwork you end up accumulating. things like bank statements, legal documents, purchase invoices, utility bills, personal records - the list goes on and on. i started going through all the stuff for tax reasons, but now that my taxes are pretty much done, i still went ahead and sorted out all that paperwork, throwing away as much as possible since i'm just going to get more.

all that was interrupted when i got a call from my father asking me to bring my mother home from the cafe because she felt sick. the call came while i was watching one of the best BSG episodes (from season 3), the one where galactica and pegasus rescue the humans on new caprica. i got on my motorcycle and went down there and then drove her home with the car. normally my father would go home in the afternoon to walk the dog, but because he had to work and my mother didn't feel well, i was asked to do it. this was what i didn't want. despite the fact that they said it'd never happen, i knew that as soon as they decided to keep the dog, one day it'd affect me. sooner or later they'd ask me to take care of it, and this was only the beginning. nevertheless, i had nothing better to do, and took the dog for a walk around the block. it was a familiar circuit, one that i'd made thousands of times when we had our old dog. it (she, actually) didn't go to the bathroom so when we got back home i set it free out in the backyard. she wasn't very interested in going to the bathroom there either, more preoccupied with the many twigs to find and chew and trampling on the crocuses. so i brought her inside, where she promptly urinated on the kitchen floor. sensing that maybe she had more business to take care of, i let her back outside. after a while i brought her back inside.

i drove back to the cafe and took the motorcycle back home. i continued with my sorting, ended up throwing out a big bag of unwanted paperwork. i had a late lunch, two slices of pound cake (i love pound cake!) and a chocolate devil dog pastry. client S gave me an update on the project status, looks like i'm off the hook until monday. later in the evening i finished the clam sauce linguine leftover from last night (not very good, and the uneven microwave heating didn't help either).

with season 4 of battlestar galactica (BSG) beginning tomorrow night (or watch it online at noontime on scifi.com), i'd like to make some comments about the show. the best episode of season 1 in my opinion was "33", the first episode. the season ended with the attempted assassination of captain adama by cylon sharon. season 2, the most interesting thing to happen was the arrival of pegasus. that season ended with the invasion of new caprica by cylons. the best part of season 3 was the rescue of new caprica and lee's courtroom speech. as for the season finale? that 4 beloved human characters are actually cylons? oh, and starbuck comes back from the dead. did BSG jump the shark? how will they weave the storyline so the plot continues to be relevant? i'm kind of worried about this 4th and final season. hopefully the writers will prove me wrong.
