today i moved all my tall plants (nasturtiums, scallion, garlic, cardinal climbers) to the top shelf while relocating all the short plants to the lower shelf. i also dropped down the fluorescent lights on the lower shelf so they'd be closer to the plants. with all the nasturtiums bunched up together i realize i have too much now. i pruned off a few branches and tried eating some of the leaves, with no discernible delicious flavor. they're actually starting to bore me now that they're flourishing so well. hopefully they'll start making some flowers soon but i think that's still weeks away, if not months. too bad it's still not warm enough to transplant them outside. maybe i can replant a few as houseplants, but not sure how we'll they'll do without a constant daily source of sunlight (albeit artificial). i salvaged a few containers from plants that weren't doing too well: the pair of arugula that rotted and a few stunted basil. i planted some cypress vines instead (4), set them in the guest bedroom above the heating vent. hopefully they'll germinate in a few days. my father came over briefly to take apart the old screen house sign and reuse the pair of fluorescent light enclosures as grow lamps for his setup at the cafe. he left with 3 more cardinal climbers, leaving me with just 2 left. as soon as they get big enough i'll give them away as well.

with the oscars this coming sunday, i'm still trying to catch up on all my movies, which was what i was doing most of the day. played some more hellgate, had to update the game because i destroyed the special weapon ser sing made for me before i realized i needed to use it to finish a mission. i also found the corresponding patch that allows me to play with the game without the dvd. and still no screen captures until apple fixes the problem with the function keys on its laptops running boot camp.
