maybe it was the heat. for whatever reason i just didn't feel like doing anything today except lounge around the house. it was too hot and humid to go running, and even too hot to go visit the garden. instead i ate some leftover pizza from last night and watched movies on my computer. i noticed a foul odor coming from inside my fridge. a quick check of the meat bin revealed a forgotten week old package of raw spareribs that was causing the awful smell. besides the smell, the meat also felt sticky, another sure sign of expiration. undaunted, i went through with my original plans of making some honey barbecued ribs. since i'd be cooking it in the oven for 2 hours, i figured the heat would kill whatever pathogen might be living on the meat. it came out pretty well (my house now smells like a barbecue restaurant) but i didn't have time to eat any of it before i left the house in the early evening.

i went with julie to the fisherman's feast in the north end. i got my schedule mixed up and though that the flying angels were happening tonight, but that's not until sunday night. we decided to check it out regardless.

of course italian mayor menino was there as well. once again he displayed his amazing ability to look directly into any camera that happens to be pointed at him. i could never quite put my finger on it until tonight but the mayor is actually a mouth breather. i think his constituents love him all the same though.

julie and i had dinner at mama's at the head of hanover street. i had the veal margarita with linguine which was pretty tasty.
