i woke up too late to go running. instead, i received an invite to go down to the cafe to get some homemade noodles for lunch.

lucky garden backyard garden

in the afternoon i went with julie to walden pond. it was the first visit this summer for us both. the water level was higher than in past seasons, with the water coming up to the stone steps that strategically dot the edge of pond. with so little dry real estate, i spent most of my time up to my shoulder in the water, standing on the tippy toes of my flippers. the weather was warm but overcasted and little direct sunshine. dragonflies perched on overhanging tree branches and half-submerged shrubs, including slaty skimmers and powdered dancers. in the water we could see some fish darting around (no sighting of the monster kois though). as we were making our exit, a couple of girls asked if they could have our spot.

bruce paid me a quick visit when i got back home to pay back the $400 he borrowed for car repairs yesterday.

in the evening my mother-grandmother-aunt-sister came over. i brought my mother and grandmother to my garden and we picked some scallions, basil, and my single red tomato. my sister was back at my place making dinner for everyone (some sort of potato curry).
