one thing i'm lacking with my digital SLR camera is the ability to get good macro photos. for that i still use my trusty old nikon coolpix 4500. but because my new camera is an SLR, i can replace the lens so i've been shopping around for a good macro shooter. i won't go into the technical details of the selection process, but the canon macro was just too expensive (canon is a name brand so therefore commands a more premium price) so i ended up looking at the sigma 50mm macro lens. i've seen some samples and am absolutely sold on the lens, particularly its ability to capture insects. i hope to get it within the next few weeks (after i get paid first for some of the work i've been doing) and can't wait until the weather warms up so i can start looking for bugs again (insects from past years, 2005-2006).

barring any further bugs, i got the work for client S done today. periodically i'd check the weather, waiting for that snow which never did come. apparently one storm passed us by, but another slated for the evening, which only brought slush to cambridge at best. for lunch i foraged around the kitchen for food and then in the evening i had ramen for dinner while watching a mini jake 2.0 marathon.
