the only thing different about this craisin-orange bread is i used all-purpose flour instead of bread machine flour. i'm still not quite sure if that makes any difference (i'd have to do a few more tests of course) but today's loaf was less than perfect, the top ripping off of the bread during the rising-baking stage. i only made the bread not because i wanted to test the potency of the different flour brands but i had some leftover ingredients that i wanted to get rid of. also today i realized i could make a makeshift bread box with a crumpled plastic bag, so hopefully that'll keep these bread moist for at least a few days.

a domestic day, i washed my sheets and towels and cleaned out the gas range. i disassembled the burners and pulled out the metal surface plate, spraying it down with potassium hydroxide, an industrial strength oven cleaning foam-gel. it literally ate the grease like acid, and when i got a little bit on my fingertip could feel it burning through my skin (safety gloves? what're those?).

in the evening julie came over and i attempted to make a chicken parmesan recipe along with some pasta and a side of butter cooked mushrooms. i made enough for us as well as an tao and together we ate in the living room, watching the bourne identity on television.
