if today had a slogan, it might something like, "not a single moment in doubt, every minute something to do." this morning i was greeted with the news that there was some unexpected bugs cropping up in the MBEL interactive that needed to be fixed. originally i thought it'd be an on-site visit and i was ready to ride down into boston (temperature in the 60's), but the fixes were minor enough that i could just repair them on my pc at home and upload the revised version for the client to test tomorrow morning. i ran some errands, including going down to microcenter to buy a serial cable (to interface that device i picked up two days ago with the computer), home depot to buy a furnace filter, and target to stock up on halloween candy (4 bags of smarties). when i came back i did some more bug fixes and tested the device. i stopped at one point to eat, leftovers from last night, running into the kitchen to take quick bites, then back to my computer to write more code. my body felt broken from yesterday's one-man air-conditioner move: i sprained my back and bruised my arms. my mother and aunt came over in the evening, bringing with them ingredients to make rice noodle soup for dinner. the rest of the evening i switched between the NLCS baseball playoff game and the movie elizabeth.
