this morning after the exterminator came for a final inspection (with great stories of adventures in zero gravity piloting including freefalling a 727), i went into the city to meet with client X in back bay for a lingo-actionscripting summit. it's scary how much X is like screen house, from little office spaces where everyone is cramped inside to the guy i was working with who bore a resemble to joel. we figured out what was wrong and i left with a cd burned with the latest source codes. i walked to chinatown and got some smelly tofu for takeout, then returned to cambridge. based on the strength of another matthew referral, somebody from AT contacted me in the early evening about a quick one day lingo job in the north end. this is kind of ironic, because back when i was interviewing for SRM (fall 2000), i interviewed with AT as well. the fact that they were business casual didn't scare me as much as somebody mentioning (without a trace of sarcasm) the cots in the basement for those times when you have to sleep in the office. the decision to work for SRM came easy and everything turned out fine (i ended up sleeping at SRM a few times anyway). so tomorrow morning i get to go into boston again for some more work. around 8pm julie came to pick me up to go to the galleria mall. the mall was surprisingly calm for a holiday shopping day. hooched up girls eyeballed one another with disdain as they staggered about the 3 floors of commerce, arms loaded with shopping bags. i bought a pair of toesocks for my sister, some candles (patchouli and citrus sage), a deck of transparent playing cards, and some books (one about reptiles and amphibians, one another precolumbian mythology in the americas). we came back to my place to watch that heidi klum reality show (runway) while i finally had some chinese dumplings for dinner. once julie left, much like yesterday, i shuffled into my bedroom and coded for a few more hours.
