it was drizzling this morning but the fastest way to the office was via motorcycle so i rode anyway, despite getting a little bit wet. i got to work at 9am and worked 6 hours before i had to leave. todd was there as well, keeping me company, and for lunch i reheated the leftover bowtie pasta from yesterday. eric even showed to do some work before i left. the project's still not done, i'll have to work tomorrow morning as well, the day of alex and april's wedding. i went to belmont, dropped off the bike in exchange for the car, and drove back to cambridge where i took a shower and got changed for the prenuptial reception dinner in providence, rhode island. there was some serious thunderstorm action by the time i left the house. it took an hour and a half to drive down to the ocean state, and since i've never rally been there before, i had no idea where i was going and ended up getting a little lost. i did find the place eventually, parked the car, and wandered around a bit to kill some time before the 6pm dinner.

besides the bride and groom, the only other people i knew were folks from squid, including katrinka and brian, carly, and nick bundy, whom i discovered was also the best man. nick and i sat at the same table along with a brother sister pair (childhood family friends), alex's sister stacey, and a trio of alex's cousins (amy, robin, and david?). amy said she'd been to a squid halloween party one year, and i instantly remembered her as gilligan. the girl cousins didn't stick around long, once dinner started, they went around table hopping, posing for photos and doing shots.

by the time i drove back home it was close to midnight. i had the air conditioning turned up high to keep me from falling asleep. most of the time i was in the fast lane doing 80mph. i'm waking up early tomorrow to work (from home, just received a list of bugs via e-mail), then heading down to providence again for the actual 3pm wedding.
