what's that tendon that stretches all the way from your hip down to your knee? whatever it's called, i think i tweaked it today while running. a few hundred yards into monday's slice of exercise, i felt pain and my right leg giving away. i tried stretching it out but it didn't seem to help. in the end, i ran gingerly, until the pain disappeared and i was able to get back to my normal pace. instead of running around the charles river, i ran to the museum of science, where i picked up a pair of special eclipse sunglasses to watch the transit of venus across the sun early tomorrow morning. the gift store was mobbed with field trip kids, one hand clutching a piece of overpriced trinket, the other a fistful of dollars. it seems wrong to take money from children. what do they know about money anyway? spending $5 on a rock seems just as worthwhile as spending $5 on lunch. none of them have jobs, its up to their parents to empower them with the gift of dinero. i stood behind a mass of children incapable of forming a single coherent line to the cash register. since i just ran in, i was sweating, and was afraid i'd drip on the kids. i paid with credit card, and felt a million years older than these kids ("look what i have and you don't! nah nah nah!").

i ran back to the office, the thigh starting to act up again. there was some sort of police ceremony in boston common, i wished i brought my camera. all of them were in their police uniforms, a few were mounted on horses, and there was a multi-gun salute as cannons were fired. i stopped to watch a little bit, before continuing on with my journey. i went to burger king to get a chicken caesar salad ($3.99).

after work i went into chinatown and picked up a few ingredients for making hot and sour soup from sun sun supermarket. back in cambridge, a brief stop at star market to get a few more things. i had an unhealthy dinner, a can of soda, a stick of spree, a bottle of snapple, a pair of 2 week old corn on the cob, a pair of buffalo wings with blue cheese, and some microwaved weight watcher's dinner (not even sure how it got into my fridge). my former roommate called me, asking if he could sleep at my place tomorrow night, in town for his graduation. i said yes. my father came over after he got out of work and guided me through another making of hot and sour soup. we got it to the point where we could let the flavors infuse on the stove overnight, and when i actually have it tomorrow night, all i need to do is to add corn starch and some eggs.

(my attempts to recover those lost photos were unsuccessful. although the pc at work was able to see the card at least, photorescue couldn't find enough coherent data to even piece together a single photo. i'll keep on trying though, i still believe those images can be saved some how.)
