i decided i would be making thai basil fried rice tomorrow night so during my lunch break i went to super 88 to buy some ingredients. i came back with three bags of groceries and lunch (salt and pepper pork on rice). also today i made an appointment go see my doctor on wednesday regarding my persistent cough. maybe finally he'll give me something stronger for my sickness (what i don't finish i'll share). i was talking with manny who was at home waiting for the cable company to come install cablemodem at his place (8 years after graduation he's finally getting high speed internet access, sniff), and he remembered one semester of college where i had a cough for several months. there's just something about my respiratory system that seems to fertile ground for diseases i guess.

when i came home, i was held hostage by the red sox game. only when it appeared that the outcome was inevitable (another red sox loss to the indians, they totally own us) did i leave the house to get more groceries. i cooked up some rice for tomorrow night's dinner (fried rice requires day-old rice, and it really needs jasmine even though i only have basmati), prepared some coconut jello, and made some rice noodle ramen for dinner. a fly entered the house when i was bringing the plants back inside. i tried to get it to exit peacefully by leaving the backyard door open, but it didn't seem to want to go back out into the cold dark night, so i had no choice but to chase it around the house with a rolled up newspaper. i finally dazed it and put it out of its misery. later in the evening, mike left and went over to his girlfriend's place.
