today was intermittent air conditioning action, vacuuming, cleaning the house a bit including the bathroom, writing the content for last night's weblog entry, riding the motorcycle down to the somerville target in this oppressive heat to buy hello kitty bubble bath and dispensing hand soap but came back with hair gel instead. andrew came back around 5pm, we went next door to do some grocery shopping for the barbecue, buying about $80 worth of food. leaving the supermarket, we bumped into bruce returning some plastic bags. andrew's friends came: meghan, yentz, alicia, stephanie, and keith. our barbecue consisted of hot dogs, hot italian sausages, and hand-rolled beef patties (lean ground beef, garlic, onion, oregano, pepper). when it got dark, i put out the rice paper lantern outside for proper illumination. while they all ate in the hot kitchen, i ate by myself in the air conditioned living room, watching an alias repeat. renata showed up and stayed for an hour, eating the leftover barbecue food i'd saved her underneath the safety seal of clear wrap. she ate only the hamburger, and ate it in the kitchen as well, standing by the counter (i guess people really love that kitchen). our $3 watermelon turned out to be a dud, suffering from some sort of melon hydrocephalus, the very soft spongy part smelling rancid and tasting no better. lesson of this story: never buy cheap watermelon that are too good to be true (i should know, i taste tested it). everyone dispersed by 10:30, renata went back home, while i went with andrew, yentz, alicia, and meghan to herrell's in harvard square for some ice cream. i had the mango which tasted nothing like the fruit, more like an unidentifiable white ice cream with chunks of frozen orange gummi guts. after ice cream, yentz gave us all rides back to my place, where we all dispersed again, this time for good. andrew and i cleaned up the dishes and called it a night.

sixpence none the richer - there she goes
