working at the house today, i was beset by visitors. first my aunt lili and uncle matthew came by to check out the place for the very first time. unfortunately the floors were covered so they weren't able to see the hardwood (other than the few corners i lifted up), but they saw the rest. when they left, i had some captain crunch cereal, the ones with the specially colored jimmy neutron crunches. later, unexpectedly, manny showed up in my house, along with his fiancée daisy, who brought her parents. when did my house become a tourist attraction? i stopped what i was doing (sanding and vaccuming the kitchen wall) and gave them the tour in both english and chinese. i guess i've reached some sort of milestone where people not only want to see the place but also want their parents to see it as well. i hope it's a good thing and not one of those, "oh my god look at the mess! this is what we shouldn't do when we renovate!"

looks like i need to bring in one more specialist into the house. matthew discovered that the pilot light for my stove isn't working. something must've happened, maybe a circuit burned out from all the times the pilot light was turning on and off by itself because of all the construction dust. i'm not even going to attempt to try and fix it myself, not that i know anything about stoves. i figured when you're messing with natural gas, it's better to let the professionals take care of it. so i was looking at the yellow pages, trying to find a good appliance repair place. having a repairman coming to the house seems so domestic, like something from the 50's. in my mind some clean cut man in a uniform (including a cap with the company logo on it) will arrive at my doorstep with a toolbox in hand, ready to fix my appliance. the reality will probably be very different. and while he's here, i'd also like him to fix the refrigerator, which seems to be dripping water from the back, not very much, just drops, but while i have a repairman in the house, might as well get it taken care of too. not sure how much they charge though. i'm going throw out $100/hour. if it's anything less than that not including any parts cost (which i don't think will be any), i'll be happy and think i got a bargain.

i left the house at around 6pm and an hour later went over to dan's place to watch the season premiere of the sopranos and to have some wings. parking was surprisingly easy to find, i was dreading to have to circle the block over and over again just to get a spot. as for the sopranos, maybe i was expecting more from all the hype surrounding the return of the show, but i found tonight's episode to be lacking in a good story. it was more of a setup for future episodes. but you know what i'm going to be watching sunday nights at 9pm! you guessed it! sydney bristow and sweet alias, baby!
