for lunch i went out running. the weather was warm yet again, approaching 60's, and i ran in my shorts (ugly ones, green plaid, no match for the sexy black spandex shorts i saw a lot of the other runners were sporting). the more i ran the less tired i felt. i think today i figured out the course isn't entirely level, that there are slight gradients. well that explains everything! that's why i've been running so slow, it's those slight gradients! i ran the whole course without stopping, which by now is the only consolation i get from my runs, since i don't seem to be getting any faster or shedding any weight (i'm still running a 10 minute mile, and i'm still in the junior heavyweight division). when i came back to the office i had used up my allotted lunch hour and didn't dare extend it even more by venturing out and acquiring something to eat. i also used up my emergency ration last week, a can of boston baked beans. so i went the whole day - all 10 hours - without food. well, that's not entirely true. i did have a raspberry pop tart in the morning, some water, a bottle of doctor pepper and a banana.* look upon me, standing on the pinnacle of good nutrition!

i couldn't wait to get home, my stomach was growling the whole commute back. my yearning desire for food didn't prevent me from stopping briefly and admiring the full moon in the winter night's sky, lines of clouds illuminated by the moonlight. when i got home the first thing i did was to throw a pizza into the toaster oven and then go watch the nightly news with tom brokaw. 30 minutes later pizza was good to go. i also had some leftover spaghetti my sister made a few nights ago.

and finally, i'm on a girls with guns desktop background kick at work. if you got a good one, send it my way!
