after running 2 miles along the banks of the charles river i stopped to walk the remaining 1 mile. that's where heard this very unique bird call, and i looked up in the trees and saw a reddish bird along with a yellow bird. i got excited because i thought it could be tanagers, which i've always wanted to see, but they turned out to be orchard orioles, which are just as good. there seems to be several of them singing, crisscrossing the river flying from tree to tree. if i have time i'd like to revisit the area and try to get photos.

yesterday's offensive desktop pattern has been removed. once again harmony resonates throughout the peaceful office kingdom. the baseball talk embargo has been lifted, all is forgiven -- for now. in other news, red sox win tonight against the bluejays behind nomo's complete game pitching, allowing only 1 hit and delivering 14 strikeouts while facing just 28 batters. it's like everytime its nomo's rotation to pitch, fans wait with bated breath for him to get another hitless game. he's been close to getting his second, had several games where he pitched with only 1 hit. special sauce anyone? oh those tasty japanese spices!

as a newbie biker, i experience a lot of firsts: my first time riding, my first time going into the work, my first passenger, my first fall. a potential new experience everytime i ride. today, i had another first: i swallowed my first bug! actually, that's not really true. a bug flew into my mouth and i casually spit it out. i was chewing a piece of gum and smiling to myself, enjoying the ride, thinking how great it feels on a motorcycle while everybody else has to drive around in those claustrophobic steel cages. all that good feeling came to a screeching halt though as a bug flew directly into my mouth. good thing i like insects! hope the bug made it out alive!
